German Synthesizer Metal is a term I found on the Facebook page of FUDGE, I chose to review them anyway because I kinda dig Synth music. A few minutes in I must say this is quite a bit of Goth-styled music and Industrial (I get reminded of MARYLIN MANSON and a bit of MINISTRY). The synthesizers and guitars sound really good together although the vocals are a bit rough. The record is mostly pretty melodic and diversified (not boring at all). Even though technically there is nothing to criticize I must state that the Gothic feeling I get from songs like ‘Dust To Come’ is not my cup of tea. The term Metal is a bit extendable so I get why FUDGE see themselves as a metal band, but I would rather categorize their style as Industrial with Goth parts (my brain needs many drawers).
Conclusion: For fans of MINISTRY, MARYLIN MANSON or FEAR FACTORY.
