Review Flash

God how I missed reviewing stuff from Brazil, RAGING WAR from Florianópolis - Brusque / Santa Catarina are the epitome of what I appreciate about South American Metal in general and Thrash Metal from South America in particular. The attitude is the same that Germany and the USA had in the early 80s, raw, barely controlled anger and apolitical view that is far more than just critical. This energy paired with ultra pissed vocals (Rudi Vetter / vocals) and lyrics, fast guitars (Wellington Rodrigues de Oliveira) and manically escalating people behind the drums equals pure Thrash Metal joy. ‘Liquidators’ broaches the issue of Chernobyl, rightfully accusing the Russian government of solving the situation on the backs of their so called “Liquidators”. ‘The Last Tree’ bemoans the direction mankind and technology develops while destroying our environment and thus killing Earth itself. The third and last track ‘Raging War’ deals with war and poverty, as I understand it this track might be directly linked to the frustration of the Brazilian people with their respective Government. You see? These guys are hungry for the metal but fed up with life as it is in their cultural and political environment.

Conclusion: I dig the anger and aggression RAGING WAR so legitimately emits; this is Thrash!
