Whitby Goth Weekend by Mutant Movement with Sisters of Murphy, Killing Eve and Klammer
Whitby Gothic Weekend is probably the UK’s best-known Goth festival. Starting in 1994 as a small pub event it has grown and grown over the years. In many ways it has become a victim of its own success, through no fault of its own. Sure, the organisers have over the years had their problems, but the current position of the event becoming a mainstream (twice yearly) Halloween style street party / carnival cannot be laid at their door.

Kissin’ Dynamite - Support: Black Rain & Serpentyne
Friday night’s musical shenanigans had me down in the bowels of the Camden Underworld to see Folk Symphonic Metal band SERPENTYNE supporting BLACK RAIN and KISSIN DYNAMITE. Their support slot was an early one, starting at 6:30pm so I was surprised to see that a good crowd had arrived early to see SERPENTYNE play.

Machine Head - “Burn My Eyes” 25th anniversary tour
After the withdrawal of half the band and mixed reactions to the last album ‘Catharsis’ (2018) MACHINE HEAD are currently on a three-hour show tour in front of many full houses. Seeed
The sad news of the death of the founding member and third frontman Demba Nabé alias Boundzound shook the band, their environment and their fans, and yet the band continued to work on their fifth album, the first since 2012, which finally appeared as ‘Bam Bam’ at the beginning of October 2019. And exactly with this album SEEED are on tour and performed on Friday at the sold-out Rockhal.

Midge Ure - “1980 Tour (Visage and Vienna)” 2019 - Support: Rusty Egan
New Romantic was born out of the Punk movement in the UK. It initially started in clubs like The Blitz in London, a small club night aimed at fans of DAVID BOWIE and ROXY MUSIC - and of course electronic bands such as KRAFTWERK. Both MIDGE URE and Rusty Egan were members of RICH KIDS, a band put together by Glen Matlock of the SEX PISTOLS. The roots of New Romantic were formed due to members of the punk scene wanting to be part of a distinctive, creative fashion movement, but led by a different style of music.
