Liss Eulenherz was not only one of two singers of Future Pop / Electro Pop / Synth Pop band SONORUS7 from Leipzig until the band split up in March 2020, she is also photographer, media and video designer within Eulenherz Artwork, a creative multimedia team by Liss and Danny who are specialized in video, short film, layout, press-and promo work, concert photography, artwork and band marketing. Currently, she also works together with ZWEITE JUGEND who are releasing ‘Die ganze Nacht’ on March 6th together with her as a second singer. She also produced the official music video for this piece. During the video shooting we saw her beautiful tattoos and of course asked her to be part of our project. She agreed and furthermore delivered amazing photographs. Our today’s guest is Eli van Vegas, singer of the emerging Electro Punk / EBM band ZWEITE JUGEND. After having released their latest album about one year ago, followed by many club shows and prestigious festival shows at Wave Gotik Treffen and NCN Festival in 2019, the band is now about to release the single ‘Die ganze Nacht’ on March 6th together with the singer Liss Eulenherz (SONORUS7) who also produced the official music video for this piece. Some shows will follow right afterwards: ZWEITE JUGEND will take Liss with them to some of their shows. One of those will be at this year’s E-tropolis Festival. So, in between producing, rehearsing and travelling, Eli found some time to answer our questions about his tattoos.

Recently, in Post-Industrial music there has been a kind of revival of already old genres. If 10-12 years ago old-school EBM was on that list, then in the last couple of years Electro-Industrial has entered this category. Maybe it’s time for the revival of the rhythmic Dark Electro. And the prerequisites are already being observed. However, there is some raise in Aggro-Industrial, but from the old echelon of musicians. But still, high places in the top for 2019 were taken by albums with a mixture of genres.

Our guest today comes from Greece. I must confess, when I first saw Evan’s pictures, I couldn’t help but think about heroes, ancient Greek myths, and the music style of the band – “Occult Heavy Metal / Progressive Heavy Metal” - it gave me food for thought about the pantheon of gods. If you think so too, have a listen to the latest release of the band – ‘Towards the Damned’ which was released on December 7th, 2019. But let’s get back to our main topic - tattoos.

Reflections of Darkness [RoD]: When did you get your first tattoo and what was it? Did it take much time until you decided to get it done?
Evan: My first tattoo was the tornado clock representing time travel, it’s part of my Donnie Darko 1/2 sleeve, I can’t say that it took much time to decide what I wanted since it’s one of my favorite movies, maybe it took some time to decide how I wanted the time travel concept to be illustrated.
