Album Review

EAT THE GUN have started fourteen years ago and have released four albums, the newest addition is called ‘Stripped To The Bone’, which apparently refers to the band wanting to go for raw, unpolished sound. For sure, merry Hard Rock unfolds with catchy riffage and enough oomph for a fourteen year old to wake the neighbourhood up, though that is a teen in the old days, there’s that classic vintage feel thrown into this though it also has that modern flavour within, though that’s not exactly a positive remark, there is that edge of the boy bands playing rock to appear rugged and cool but still leaving a somewhat vacuous taste behind.

Their band title may try to sound badass and the lyrics show enough bravado, yet it’s really quite shaven and pleasant sounding thing. On the other hand though they’re German they’re like British food – meaty but bland on the palate. Highlight is ‘Addiction’ with its groovy, energetic zeal done up full on and the last song ‘Small Dose Of Death’ that sound more mature and interesting. ‘Won’t Let You Down’ has some really, really cheesy lyrics that are on the verge of being comical and maybe from that respect even a good laugh. Nice but mediocre.
