Album Review

DEEP SLEEP was formed in 2005; they have released an EP - ‘Sessions EP’ before creating their debut album ‘Shadow of a Dream’. While listening to DEEP SLEEP’s album ‘Shadow of a Dream’ I can easily close my eyes and feel transported back to the 80´s with its happy synth-pop music. Sometimes during listening to the album it all gets a little too happy sounding for my taste - but it’s a good mix of songs with good melodies and interesting lyrics. I like the singer José Alberto Pinheiro’s voice and the way he uses it in different ways through the songs. My favourite on the album is called ‘The Empire Will Fall’ and that one is different and simply brilliant with a really good melody, music and lyrics. It kind of reminds me of DURAN DURAN’s hit in the 80´s ‘Save a Prayer’. I am surprised to find this band to be unsigned but if they are good or better live than on this record then I believe they will not be unsigned for long.
