LEANDRA a.k.a. OPHELIA DAX started her solo project in 2005. Some might know the White Russian - German musician as keyboard player of JESUS ON EXTASY, DIARY OF DREAMS of APOPTYGMA BERZERK. She was on tour with LETZTE INSTANZ on their “Das weiße Lied” tour in 2008. Furthermore she was supporting act for EISBRECHER and PHILIP BOA. Starting early in childhood to learn playing the piano, the talented artist soon won several contests in Belarus and later on in Germany. In 2008 she released her first solo album ‘Metamorphine’ which was diverse, but dominantly positive rated. For this new album, LEANDRA was support by guest appearances as there were Stephan L. Groth (APOPTYGMA BERZERK), Dorian Deveraux (ex JESUS ON EXTASY) and Felix Flaucher (18 SUMMERS).
I find it quite hard to write about this album. It’s nice and it’s winsome, but even after hearing it several times there is no song that really sticks in my head. The music is a mixture of Dark Pop, Trip Hop, Synth Pop with piano interludes. Her vocals sound young. Well, of course she is a young lady. Pleasing but not really remarkable. ‘Matter of time’ could be a good dance track if there are plans to make a remix of it. With ‘I’m over it’ you are reminded of MASSIVE ATTACK, while ‘Revenge’ with the piano interlude made me think of VIC ANSELMO. ‘If you follow’ could also be a remix of MESH. The highlights of the albums are surely the duets with Stephan L. Groth, Dorian Deveraux and Felix Flaucher.
To me the album is a melting pot of all kind of musical styles, which in general is not a bad thing, but I miss the personal recognisable style of the artist. Surely enjoyable but it had no deeper impact on me. The album is available as standard version, download version but you can also only download each song of this album
