Album Review
THE SUBWAYS, a British Rock band, are celebrating their 20th anniversary with a best of album. The band was founded in 2000, and have received international attention and success with their debut album ‘Young For Eternity’, which featured the hit singles ‘Oh Yeah’ and ‘Rock’n’Roll Queen’. In the following years, the band has been playing countless shows and have been at almost every rock festival you can think of. At least it sometimes felt like that. Furthermore, the band has opened for rock legends such as OASIS, FOO FIGHTERS, and even AC/DC.
The successful debut album was followed by the sophomore album ‘All Or Nothing’, which included the songs ‘Kalifornia’ and ‘I Won’t Let You Down’. Both were featured in video games. The following album, ‘Money And Celebrity’ included ‘We Don’t Need Money to Have a Good Time’ and ‘It’s A Party’, both of which received a reasonable amount of airplay by BBC RADIO 1. There are also two more albums that THE SUBWAYS released: ‘Self-Titled Album’ in 2015 and ‘Uncertain Joys’ in 2023.
So, with five full-length studio albums under their belt and twenty years of rocking on international stages, it is time to celebrate. THE SUBWAYS do so with their best-of album ‘When I’m With You’. The best-of album comes with twenty-three songs and lasts for seventy-one minutes. It includes all mayor hits the band has ever released. While it includes five songs off their debut album - including the hidden track ‘1 AM’, there is only three songs off the sophomore album and the one that followed.
Off their latest two albums, THE SUBWAYS chose four songs each. And they are shuffled well. So listening to this album is like listening to an interesting shuffle through their musical career. But while the album includes all previously mentioned songs, there is also two new and previously unreleased songs on this album: ‘I Need To Feel You Closer’ and ‘Passenger ‘s Side’. Both have the thriving style THE SUBWAYS are notorious for.
‘When I’m With You’ is an album to celebrate to. And it includes the music for it. With only a few exceptions, this album pulls you out onto the dance floor and gets you moving along. The catchy rhythms energize and spread positive vibes, leaving you behind wanting more. And you will get more. THE SUBWAYS will celebrate their 20th anniversary out on the road with all of you, beginning in November.
So, check the dates and get your tickets now, before it’s too late. Until then, press play and celebrate with ‘When I’m With You’.
