W:O:A 2008 - StatementThe 18th W:O:A is now part of our history and this year again 3 positive factors about our cult festival will stay in our minds:
- the best audience worldwide
- brilliant bands with great performances
- the sun is from Northern Germany!
We´d like to thank you for your support because without YOU we would not be what we are: One of the biggest Heavy Metal Festival worldwide!
Of course there have been problems this year because of the disastrous weather conditions whilst the assembling period, at the park- and campinggrounds as well as at the arrival which we will try to change next year. But altogether we all celebrated a brilliant Metal party.

Finnish superstars NIGHTWISH and new vocalist Anette Olzon will release their anticipated album "Dark Passion Play" at the end of September via Nuclear Blast Records! Guitarist Jani Liimatainen left the band and is substituted by Elias Viljanen. Therefore SONATA ARCTICA want the following to be known: "During fall of '06 and spring of '07, Jani's personal matters and actions drove us to a situation where we had no option but to ask Jani to leave the band. Jani was notified of this in May, and the separation was amicable. We wanted to give Jani the chance to get his life together before making this public, which is why we didn't make this announcement earlier. We wish Jani well on his chosen path. Veteran San Francisco Bay Area metallers TESTAMENT have cancelled their previously announced dates in Italy due to "scheduling conflicts." The promoter of the Italian gigs, Debbie Bisceglia, has released the following statement from TESTAMENT's management regarding the cancellations: "Due to events beyond their control, TESTAMENT are cancelling two upcoming shows in Italy only, August 31 and September 1. LEAVES' EYES are gearing up for their next Northamerican tour. Liv: "After a busy spring and summer, touring Europe with Kamelot, playing festival shows, working on our DVD Production, moreover on our next album a.s.o., we are now getting ready for our 3rd North-American tour. We will leave Germany on Friday, heading for Springfield at our first show. It will be fantastic! Jaxx in Springfield is already sold out. Our live show will consist of both well-known tracks as well as material we have never presented live to an audience before. After the tour we will continue the recordings of our next full-length album." Liv has been working on its concept, which is as good as settled: "I got a brilliant idea a while ago and decided to find out more about it.
