Guitarist Jani Liimatainen left the band and is substituted by Elias Viljanen. Therefore SONATA ARCTICA want the following to be known: "During fall of '06 and spring of '07, Jani's personal matters and actions drove us to a situation where we had no option but to ask Jani to leave the band. Jani was notified of this in May, and the separation was amicable. We wanted to give Jani the chance to get his life together before making this public, which is why we didn't make this announcement earlier. We wish Jani well on his chosen path. Veteran San Francisco Bay Area metallers TESTAMENT have cancelled their previously announced dates in Italy due to "scheduling conflicts." LEAVES' EYES are gearing up for their next Northamerican tour. Liv: "After a busy spring and summer, touring Europe with Kamelot, playing festival shows, working on our DVD Production, moreover on our next album a.s.o., we are now getting ready for our 3rd North-American tour. We will leave Germany on Friday, heading for Springfield at our first show. It will be fantastic! Jaxx in Springfield is already sold out. Our live show will consist of both well-known tracks as well as material we have never presented live to an audience before. After the tour we will continue the recordings of our next full-length album." Liv has been working on its concept, which is as good as settled: "I got a brilliant idea a while ago and decided to find out more about it. Blutengel have set out to lure us into their labyrinth … and, like in the ancient lore, it is inhabited by fabled creatures, dark angels and vampires, with a myriad of gloomy, romantic tales woven around its very existence. The path inside is not burdensome, as the masters of Dark Pop are tempting us with enticing vocal arrangements, catchy tunes and dance floor compatible beats. In Blutengel’s “Labyrinth”, one is in no need for a guiding thread ensuring a safe path outside … the magnetic pull of these dark anthems is too great as that one would ever long to escape them again. The album includes the charts-approved single “Lucifer” as well as 14 other sonic gems, all sporting the trademark Blutengel-sound that always finds the right balance between dark romantic elegies and club-oriented tracks.
