Cologne, the German city, harbouring that famous little cathedral calls all dark creatures back to the Rheinpark grounds again, for the Amphi festival is close to taking off again. Also in 2010, the organizers have thought of a diversified line-up to make the in parts long journeys some fans are taking on worth the while. ASP surely is one name to mention here first. The black butterfly and his company are aiming to make their performance an aural and visual feast again, as they’ve proven to be in the past already. BLUTENGEL honour the Amphi Festival with a visit just as well and will have darkness break upon the grounds. For fans of old-school electronic music, there are especially two very important names, attending this year’s edition that’ll make it a place to be.

First that would be Canadian legend FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY who just stormed the club floors with their new single ‘Shifting Through The Lens’, only foreshadowing of what’s expecting ambitious listeners with the all new album ‘Improvised Electronic Device’. Certainly a lot of new material will be played. Another legend, as chance has it also from Canada, SKINNY PUPPY has confirmed and with their performance art will turn quite some heads again for sure. That’s not nearly all, but it’s giving a good taste of this line-up’s quality. Besides music, a rich social program has been prepared already, offering a broad palette of stuff to choose from.

Social Program

Lectures: Dr. Mark Benecke
Known as “Der Herr der Maden” (The Lord of the Maggots), Dr. Mark Benecke, who is an adept at forensic studies from Cologne, gives an interesting insight into the world of forensic biology. In doing so he discusses the question: “What does a forensic biologist do and isn’t it disgusting?” and he also reports of “Two strange cases with insects on dead bodies.”

Musical Comedy: Oliver Klein
With his legendary “Rocky Horror Show”, Oliver Klein presents songs from the grooviest musicals of all times. Adequate outfits mixed with other show elements will guarantee for a cheerful Saturday afternoon at this year’s Amphi Festival. On Sunday the scene-anchorman and comedian will present more extracts from his programmes. In addition to the star parodies there will also be a little improvisation and delicious cabaret. After this performance no one shall ever argue that the scene doesn’t have any humour…

Reading: Christian Von Aster
His spirit is a weapon, his thoughts are the ammunition. With a sharp tongue and a keen mind Christian von Aster reads: “Apocalypse au chocolat - eine gebäckwärtige Geschichte vom Ende der Welt” (apocalypse au chocolat - a bakewards story of the end of the world)

Movie: Welle: Erdball
After “Operation: Zeitsturm”, Welle: Erdball will present their new movie “Operation: Atahualpa”. The new creation stands in the best tradition of the classical adventure movies and will be shown for the first time in full length at the Amphi Festival 2010.

Presentation: Abaddon Mysticstore
The Abaddon team comes up with a big fashion special on Sunday afternoon at the theatre of the Tanzbrunnen. We won’t say much more now, just wait and see, what the Mystic Store from Dresden will be conjuring for you on stage!

International Aftershow party
Starting every day at 6pm, a total of 20 top DJs from all over the world expect you with their individual set lists for the ultimate gothic party in the theatre. Among them we have DJs from Belgium, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Poland and Switzerland plus DJ CHRIS of AGONOIZE who will ring in the big party on Saturday.
