When the calendars show August, this usually means it’s high summer, but for a certain part of the population it has also a different meaning, for this is the month when an airfield in Hildesheim, Germany will be the scenery for the next incarnation of the M’era Luna festival, and the year 2010 doesn’t make an exception here. The closer the date’s drawing, the more enthusiasm spreads within the dark music scene and close to the festival’s beginning a pilgrim’s journey from various international corners is set in motion, catering for a high attendee’s count, something the festival always had, just as the fact it’s constantly growing. Thousands of people will crowd these grounds at the time and make the festival a big party.

That kind of party, however, cannot be started without a proper assortment of bands with varying musical styles, a prime discipline for the M’era Luna. Not only will you find bands such as party guarantors NITZER EBB, performance artists DAS ICH, the inventors of Rock’n’Sad LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE, or the return of Sven Friedrich and ZERAPHINE, the organizers also have employed a few acts not typically associated with the scene but having a large number of fans therein, which would be PLACEBO, having released a considerably bright album with ‘Battle for the Sun’ last year, or EDITORS who went on an electronic jaunt with their latest achievement ‘In This Light And On This Evening’. So something for everyone? Definitely, but experiencing good music isn’t the only thing to do at the festival. For instance a fashion show, where you’ll be able to see the newest in Goth & generally dark fashion will be going down.
