26th June 2010
E-tropolis Festival 2010: Hocico, Covenant, Combichrist, Mind.In.A.Box, Feindflug, Mergel Kratzer, DAF, Cyborg Attack, Leaether Strip, She’s All That, KMFDM, Patenbrigade:Wolff
Some say it was the perfect festival weather and in some way they were right: No clouds, the sun was shining, but for me and not me alone, it simply was too warm. Anyway, after getting the wristbands and passes first thing we did was to get an overview of the festival grounds before heading into the hall where PATENBRIGADE:WOLFF would soon open the festival. Since there were overlapping stage times, we can only provide some pics of one or another band...

30 Seconds to Mars & Carpark North
Seeing the Bielefeld show, after already been to Dortmund the week before, was not really planned. But when I got the call just the evening before, I was quite excited about a new possibility to see this great band again… well, to say already, the concert experience was at the end totally different than I was hoping for… at least when it comes to the evening’s headliner. Support act CARPARK NORTH surprised me in a very positive way once more.

Blackfield Festival 2010 Day 2: Unheilig, Subway to Sally, Oomph!, [:SITD:], Saltatio Mortis, S.P.O.C.K, Tyske Ludder, Traumtänzer, XP8
Second day welcomed us with real good festival weather. Not too hot, some clouds, lots of sun and not a single rain drop. Also, the satellite connection backstage did finally work so we were also well informed about the German team joining in the World Soccer Championship. But main reason today to come to the amphi theatre were of course the announced bands with UNHEILIG headlining the day. Winner for me today: Sweden with lots of fun and entertaining Spock’n’Roll.

KMFDM
KMFDM are doin’ it again and again! In 2009, the self-proclaimed fathers of Industrial Rock released ‘Blitz’, their 26th album since 1984 when you count in compilations, live albums and remix albums as well! After touring North America and Europe with ‘Blitz’, KMFDM released the remix album ‘Krieg’ this year, followed by yet another tour. KMFDM was founded in 1984 as an art & performance act which soon evolved into a fully-fledged which combined Techno and EBM with Metal and Rock - back in the eighties a pretty odd combination but in the 1990s it brought KMFDM major success in the US, where KMFDM’s founding father Sascha Konietzko lived from 1991 to 2007.

Anathema
Weaving shadows into music and adding dashes of purest melancholia are things ANATHEMA achieved a grand mastership in over the course of their career with it providing a soundtrack for the lost and those experiencing the darkest days of their lives. But there’s something different about the successor of 2003’s ‘A Natural Disaster’. At various points ‘We’re Here Because We’re Here’ is much brighter, even hopeful. This evening we would get to witness the special atmosphere of the new album live, plus the ones descending from different stations of the band’s timeline. ANATHEMA is Vincent Cavanagh (vocals, guitar, vocoder), Danny Cavanagh (guitar, vocals, keyboards), Lee Douglas (vocals), Les Smith (keyboards), Jamie Cavanagh (bass) and John Douglas (drums). http://www.anathema.ws/ / http://www.myspace.com/weareanathema
