Blackfield Festival 2010 Day 1: Front 242, Covenant, Deathstars, Vive La Fete, Diorama, Zeromancer, Girls Under Glass, Aesthetic Perfection, Jesus On Extasy, Scream Silence
For the third time, the Blackfield Festival opened its gates. Taking place at the wonderful amphi theatre in Gelsenkirchen, right on the riverside, it promised to be again a festival experience extraordinaire. Even though the first day started with slight rain, the weather turned to be rather perfect in the course of the festival. With FRONT 242 and COVENANT, this day offered two first class electronic acts headlining the Saturday. But secret winner of the day definitely were Norwegian ZEROMANCER…

Zita Rock Festival 2010: Staubkind, Lacrimas Profundere, Terminal Choice, Megaherz, Eisbrecher and ASP
It was Saturday afternoon when we arrived in Berlin at the Zitadelle Spandau and the sun was shining on our heads like crazy. Good for us we didn't forget our sun lotion (SPF 50+ since we are so gothic). This year, it was the first time that Zita Rock actually consisted of 2 parts: the Zita Rock Festival and Zita Folk Festival. This day, the motto was: “Let's get ready to Zita Rock!” After we gathered around in the shade, we were ready to enter the sun and start the day with STAUBKIND.

Wolves in the Throne Room & Der Weg einer Freiheit
After months of waiting, the day finally was there we had been waiting for since the spectacle had been announced, which was to take place on that very evening, close to our homes and yet so utterly removed from this world. In short, a black metal concert right bang smack in the middle of town, more or less right in front of the door, and not a concert of any lesser band, yet the great WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, a band which has been stirring things up right across various scenes, scenes which normally ignore each other. A union of diversity was to find place, a communion, a celebration of mass.

Oomph!
On the 3rd of June in Moscow, there went off an event that many people were expecting for several years: OOMPH! visited Russia for the second time! The fans of the formation started to gather long before the beginning of the show in order to take places closer to the stage. Strictly speaking this concert can be definitely entered in the list of the brightest events of the summer or maybe the whole year. Of course, some still remember the band’s breathtaking performance in Moscow in 2007 but for others, including me, this year it was the first ever concert of OOMPH!. Besides I also tried myself as a concert photographer for the first time and came to be in the photo pit that was indeed rather exciting. It’s necessary to say that the opening song was ‘Beim ersten Mal tut’s immer weh’ (It always hurts for the first time) which seemed to be a nice coincidence and indeed a great beginning for such a long-awaited show.

Castle Rock 11 Day 2: Letzte Instanz, Diary of Dreams, Mono Inc., Krypteria, The Vision Bleak, Seelenzorn, Eden Weint Im Grab
The second and last day of Castle Rock 11 had dawned already. The weather was still as you could wish for on a festival weekend, but already too hot for me. Anyway, the second day mostly offered rocking tunes from bands such as EDEN WEINT IM GRAB, SEELENZORN or MONO INC, but also the show of DIARY OF DREAMS would be taking place this day.
