Due to a hard drive crash, the release of `Loginside´ - which is the meanwhile fourth long-player of the German formation A SPELL INSIDE - had to be postponed to May 2009. Thus, the album was brought into the record stores just in time for the 20th anniversary and is a further reason to celebrate the band’s existence. Regarding the production process, two decades of Synth Pop business experience can’t be denied. It’s a mystery to me why the band hasn’t become that popular compared to style-related acts such as DE/VISION or MESH.
Therefore, watch out, Synth Pop and Electro lovers: Ear candy made by A SPELL INSIDE is waiting for you! Firstly, I would like to highlight the sophisticated soundscape that requires a repeated listening experience to make aware the sound effects, as every song comes up with complex arrangements attesting a lot of attention for the detail and causing beautiful melodies that will make you dance. In spite of the partly experimental stylistic devices, the 12 tracks remain true to the tradition of catchy and 80s-committed blasts. The sonorous, agreeable vocals are the icing on the cake. The first track `Keener´ declares the dance floor open and is a good introduction to what will follow. Fortunately, the album doesn’t ail at any time. For my taste, the German lyrics of the third piece `Stärke 10´ could have been less simple according to the imagery. For those who don’t only want to dance to technoid anthems but also appreciate melancholic and romantic ballads: You will be pleased by the slower romantic pieces `Waiting´ and `Your eyes´.
All in all, A SPELL INSIDE’s `Loginside´ offers an intense aural pleasure which is a perfect example for a resourcefully produced long-player in superior style that should guarantee well-filled club’s dance floors and will hopefully result in the final breakthrough of these guys.
