Album Review
ELECTRIC BREATHING is a German band that was founded 2006 by Defcon One. Their music is described as aggressive and hateful which turns into pure Gothic Industrial Aggrotech. They sing about the perverse nature of existence, religion and the irony of life. Their music is powerful and provocative. First song of the album, ‘Chaos’, starts out with fast driven beats and then the voice from hell enters with a dark chant. It continues with driven beats and subdued screaming. The next song is called ‘Killer Instinct’ and it’s a great song with very danceable synth beats, the voice follows the tempo of the song. The song after this is called ‘Zerfall’ and starts out with something that sounds like demented whale calls then goes into a really fast and heavy synth backed up by a really commanding voice speaking German. The sound is deep, driven and seductive with constant beats and synth tones then the voice in a vague and heavy way goes along with the music and is perfectly danceable all the way though. This is one of my favourite songs on the album.
The song ‘Dead Body Erection’ (what a title!) starts with a great sample from the movie “The Shining” then the listener hears screams. You feel like you are going into a haunted house when you listen to this song and you don't know what will come up to frighten you next! BOO! The song continues with screaming lyrics running through the song. ‘Death Machine’, is a great blend of synthesizers playing into the night with some percussion then hard beats bouncing into the abysmal nothingness of the death machine. Give us more blood and lust! Yes! The song ‘Guilty’ starts out with a sample from a classic movie which blends with the flowing sound of synthesizers. The song sounds political in a twisted sort of way. The lyrics explain the tragedy of the word GUILTY! ‘Possession’ starts out with a disturbing sample about rape, abuse and molestation then quickly goes into the lovely array of synthesizers pounding out a beautifully dark synthetic symphony of sound. After hearing this song you will be possessed by the dark forces that exist in it.
Next one, ‘Psychotic’ has an erratic beat that continues through the song along with the added hellish voice effects which makes this song so perfectly Gothic. The song ‘Dead and Buried’ featuring the Swedish band PROJECT ROTTEN starts out really fast and driven, like someone is in a hurry to get rid of the evidence and leave it dead and buried forever. ‘Gone to Hell’ is about going to hell and maybe what it would be like. The voice makes you feel like you are already there with its depth and the lyrics I want to see you dead! The last song, ‘The World Collapses’, is haunting with lyrics that seem to scream out that the world has collapsed and there are bodies thrown everywhere with the screaming words DIE!
This band uses dark and Gothic Industrial synth sounds to lure in their listeners along with an equally haunting voice and driven pounding beats. If you like seductive Gothic Industrial sounds you will love this album. Videos on YouTube:
