Album Review
It sure is futile and unnecessary to introduce GAMMA RAY to any person in existence who gets a kick out of listening to German Heavy Metal with speed metal moments, but here I go: GAMMA RAY is a metal band from Germany formed by Kai Hansen in 1989 after he left HELLOWEEN (yeah that band). The band’s first vocalist Ralf Scheepers left in 1993, he formed PRIMAL FEAR in 1998. Scheepers’ replacement was founder and mastermind Kai Hansen himself. GAMMA RAY`s discography includes eleven studio records, four live outputs, one karaoke album (really? Yeah really!!!) and one best of compilation which I am reviewing right about now.
To everyone who is reading this out of pure curiosity, GR play fast heavy metal not unlike HELLOWEEN and sometimes they go straight “happy” metal, these guys don’t take themselves seriously all the time. To point out the highlights is infeasible when facing a best of compilation, this double CD really is enjoyable but I miss my favourite song ‘Into the Black Hole’, if you are a fan of GAMMA RAY already then just buy the regular CDs if you haven’t already done so. If you’re not and you are curious buy this double-team move (yes that was a wrestling analogy) of a best of and get to know the band and even hear a song or two with Scheepers on the mike.
