DUELLEN is an Indie-Pop formation of Joakim Jakobsson, former member of a bit similar project called THE SEARCH. Yet Jakobsson combined efforts with musician Brian Biezki make completely self-sufficient music and the debut eponymous EP of the duo captivates with the very first sounds. The rhythm almost hypnotizes a listener and even if at the beginning the melody seems monotonous, such feeling vanishes quite soon. Actually this can be said about the other tracks as well: clear-cut beats, simple guitars and melancholic, slightly aloof vocals make you play one song again and again until switch to another one. The lyrics in Swedish add some intrigue as on one hand it’s hard to understand the words, on the other hand the atmosphere created by the music and the vocals help to realize the main ideas of the compositions. Listening to the EP doesn’t tire at all and everything is harmonious and smooth enough. So the record will interest not only fans of the genre but all lovers of good music as well.
