Album Review

The French formation LAZYBONES already released its EP `Deadly Game´ at the label Be Fast!!! in 2004. This year and meanwhile contracted to Turborock Records, Mitchou (guitar, lead vocals), J. M. (bass, backing vocals) and Mounin (drums, backing vocals) can proudly present their first long-player `En attendant l´heure´. Thus, this review is a kind of retrospect concerning the career of the three guys from Marseilles whose music stands for old school Punk Rock combined with 1950´s Rock´n´Roll stylistic devices.

If you like Punk Rock veterans such as RAMONES or THE CLASH, you will also feel comfortable with the guitar-driven LAZYBONES stuff. The all in all eight short pieces are able to radiate jolly party mood and invite to chant along. Typically in this genre, the rough and at the same time melodious vocals of lead singer Mitchou are supported by his band mates´ backing choirs that conjure up images of the usual singings in European football stadiums. Reading titles such as `Deadly Game´ or `Fake Hate´, you might expect aggressive and martial sounds, but they turn out to be energetic and good-humoured pieces you can easily sing along. `Till the End´ is even a GREEN DAY-like anthem that would be suitable to be broadcasted on the radio. The English lyrics don´t deal with the serious side of life, but they make the album perfect to be an ideal record for people who love merry parties at hot summer nights.
