Album Review

The band changes the dark music world since 2007 and is very successful on their way to build an own imperium. Four albums, two EPs, several festival gigs and a tour emphasize what they managed till now. Metal sound, symphonic and gothic elements, a bit of industrial are the signature of SCHWARZER ENGEL. Their self-created style is called Modern Dark Metal and shows the aspects of the old and the new way in a completely new shape! The album starts with an epic intro ‘Götterdämmerung’ that deserves an own song. It contains the old melody of ‘Schwarze Sonne’. So all fans of the band will know what they are waiting for in the next eleven Songs.

All songs are made in the way the band is known for. Dark, sometimes very sad and depressed and most of all: loud! Most songs are more spoken that sung but the combination of hard guitar riffs and his deep voice sounds great. I can imagine how some songs will animate the crowd to sing with front-singer Dave Jason. ‘Imperium I’ is the first part of a series of albums. It introduces a new topic. I wonder how many parts will come and how the story so as the songs will change within that time. The first part is very apocalyptic and kind of scary. We will see what comes next and I guess that the second part of the story will be as good as the first.
