Album Review

SAWOFF SHOTGUN might have a masculine tinge to its title, but behind it are three women. Labelled as Electro Punk, it’s more of a Pop Punk for very young teens, who may not only find it entertaining but also inspiring - every one of them can make music like that given a good studio (providing a rich dad or exceptional luck coming their way) but it’s something that even they’d get bored by pretty soon. They’re very Pop Punk painted SPICE GIRLS behind under-used keyboards with music that tries to shout “girl power”, does a sad impression of AVRIL LAVIGNE and makes a (failed) attempt at sassiness. Ok, including a sample on ‘Kids On Coke’ and in ‘A Regular Basis’ and the first short shot of ‘Bonus’ was quite nice, but then who doesn’t use that trick these days? Music and lyrics alike are (boringly) simplistic. You may say that’s not a bad thing but there is a point where simple starts to hurt! The only slightly decent song ‘Namedrops’ and the few songs where they utilise more of Electro than ridiculous Pop Punk don’t do anything to change my opinion that this band is a bit of a joke. I think Karaoke night might entertain one even more. A funny waste of time, that’s all.
