Amphi Opening Event 'Call the ships to port': Classic & Depeche, Welle:Erdball, Covenant
The Amphi Festival 2013 was already opening on Friday, 19th July, with an exclusive event aboard the “MS RheinEnergie”, Europe´s biggest and most sophisticated domestic event ship, cruising the Rhine river. What a brilliant idea that was! This special opening event featured a programme with 3 live-acts, performing unique sets they never played before or which deviate from their regular festival setlists. And with COVENANT as headliner the organiser of the Amphi Festival had the perfect title for their new and exclusive event. Even the ticket in form of a pass at a lanyard was quite special as it came with a lush metal box. In the box there was a program (log book), a postcard and a sticker, too. Further you got a T-shirt at the check-in. This special box set was limited to 1,111 units and was already sold out months ago. The “MS RheinEnergie” is a big catamaran with a main, an upper and a foredeck. The stage was at the main deck but the audience had also a great view to the stage from the upper deck.

Hamburg is known for lots of musicians, the Reeperbahn, St. Pauli, its harbour… and of course the Nordstern Festival, taking place for the third time now. Also in 2013, neuWerk made it to organise a great in and outdoor festival. On 12th and 13th July, attendees were invited to the Markthalle on first, and to the open air stage at the Stadtpark on second day. All in all, 18 bands from Electro to Goth were awaiting the music lovers, coming from all over Germany, but of course mostly from the North.

Blackfield Festival 2013 Day 3: Godex, Ost+Front, Die Kammer, Rabia Sorda, Neuroticfish, Fixmer/ McCarthy, Rotersand, Staubkind, Mono Inc., Eisbrecher
Although some clouds appeared every now and then, the weather was perfect for festivals. Not too hot or cold and more important it was dry. Not also could you admire some fancy costumes but also several sun burnt people like me. Hopefully one day I will learn it to be prepared for rain and sun at one festival.
