within temptation Interview with

Sharon den Adel (vocals) from Within Temptation

Five years after their last album, ‘Hydra’ in 2014, the Dutch Symphonic Metal band WITHIN TEMPTATION will release their new studio album, ‘Resist’, via Universal Music on February 1st, 2019. Next to a more groovy, urban and electronic sound than fans are used to from WITHIN TEMPTATION, ‘Resist’, at first glance, could be the soundtrack for a dystopic Science Fiction movie. But RESIST is not inspired by the danger of Galaxies far away but our modern futuristic society. The message is: “Wake up and defend your freedom”.

SkunkAnansie by TomBarnes1Interview with

Mark Richardson (Drums) from Skunk Anansie

To celebrate their 25th anniversary, the legendary SKUNK ANANSIE will release their new live album, ‘25LIVE@25’, via Republic Of Music on January 25, 2019. It combines the milestones of their career with the unbelievable live presence of the band. The album contains old and new live recordings, which the band’s long-time companion, Jeremy Wheatly, put together to create a new and unique concert experience. ‘25LIVE@25’ is not only the showcase of an incomparable career, but also shows the importance of SKUNK ANANSIE as a musical and cultural force. Their shows are a hurricane of energy, volume and personality. They call for becoming part of something big and impossible to resist.

empathy testInterview with

Isaac Howlett (vocals) from Empathy Test

They surely took the scene by storm. Since they were formed in 2013 they have been climbing up the music hill expanding their impact and fan base in an incredible way. With numerous concerts played and numerous ones still ahead, great reception from both fans and critics, fantastic music combining electronic and synth elements with an impressive emotional load and vocalic power - they seem to prove there are no limits in musical creativity and the future is bright for the talented artists from EMPATHY TEST. Their most recent release, ‘Holy Rivers’ of 2018, only proves their talent in unquestionable. I had a chance to ask a few questions to Isaac Howlett, who, as he says - was born to do music. About tour life, fans, feedback and live shows... with the vocalist of EMPATHY TEST.

W fest2019 logoInterview with

Erik de Ridder (Festival Organiser)

It doesn’t happen often that an organization already announces the almost complete line-up of next year during this year’s edition. W-Fest is delightful exemption on that rule and is also quite unique from several other perspectives. In August, this Belgian 80s/ New Wave/ EBM / Synth Pop Festival (with full camping) attracted over 30,000 fans during a successful 3rd edition with acts like MIDGE URE, KIM WILDE, ABC, PAUL YOUNG, MARC ALMOND, A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS, HEAVEN 17, D:UEL (ex-Propaganda), LIMAHL, CAPTAIN SENSIBLE, WANG CHUNG, LORDS OF ACID, DAF and special shows of ANNE CLARK and PETER MURPHY 40 YEARS OF BAUHAUS CELEBRATION FEATURING DAVID J.

“A blonde girl exorcising her demons on Post-Punk music” - October 30th, 2018 – Brussels

The fall of 2018 is undoubtedly a turning point for WHISPERING SONS. This young Belgian band is indeed releasing their first “long playing” album, entitled ‘Image’. Originally from Limburg, Houthalen-Helchteren, to be precise, and now established in Brussels, they have already to their credit an EP, ‘Endless Party’, published three years ago by Wool-e-Tapes and Minimal Maximal, then two singles, ‘White Noise’ and ‘Performance’, released by Weyrd Son Records. The style is Post-Punk tinged with Shoegaze and Indie Rock influences. ‘Image’ is released in the Benelux on the prestigious PiaS label. A dazzling career debut for this band, described as “the next big thing” on the “dark oriented” Indie scene. Our editor Phil Blackmarquis met Fenne Kuppens, the singer / lyricist, and Kobe Lijnen, the guitarist / composer, in Brussels to talk about all this...
