It’s done! VAMPIRE WEEKEND complete the line-up of Highfield Festival 2009. The four guys from New York first gained some popularity over the internet since 2006 and were exposed to a wider audience with a concert review published in the New York Times. In 2007, they already recorded their debut album. The band calls their style “Oxford Comma Riddim”, a mix of indie pop, afro beat, new wave, punk, and world music.
All in all, more than 40 bands will perform on the festival weekend on 2 stages. At the Coca-Cole Soundwave Tent, the best 6 newcomer bands, chosen out of over 2000participants will play each afternoon. Get more details at http://www.myspace.com/cokemusic.
