Ragnarök Festival has got a new location for 2010. The seventh edition of the festival is set to take place from 29th of April till the 1st of May 2010 at the Ostbayernhalle at D-92286 Rieden/Kreuth. For the first time ever, Ragnarök wil feature three days of pagan and viking metal. First confirmed bands are Agathodaimon (Ger), Akrea (Ger) and Arkona (Rus).
Change of the venue
First things first. Though Ragnarök 7 had been a big success according to the feedback, we got from our visitors, we wanted to solve some problems we had in Lichtenfels, which made us moving to another location. Lichtenfels was by far too cramped this year, especially in the evening the venue almost bursted. Furthermore we have to admit, that the parking situation had been awful for most of you. Nevertheless have to say “thank you very very much!” to the team of the Stadthalle Lichtenfels, which supported us for several years. It had been great fun working together!
More options
Having the highly modern Ostbayernhalle at Gut Matheshof in Kreuth near D-92286 Rieden (Upper Palatinate/Oberpfalz) as a venue, we will have far more options in order to feature you a festival, which is as good as possible. With a overall capacity of over 10.000 visitors and a spacious area around the Ostbayernhalle, there will be enough space for a great Ragnarök 7. There is a car park for about 4000 cars, which means nobody will have to park his/her car far away from the festival area or has to go to a multi-storey car park. People, who will arrive by train can use a shuttle bus from the next train station, which is Amberg with trains from connections to Nuremberg and Regensburg every 30/60min. The camping area will also be much more spacious and everybody, who doesn't enjoy tenting will find accommodation next to the festival area: A ****-Hotel, holiday flats and a guesthouse is no more than 500m away (overall 674 beds, more available within 10km). We're also planning to set up a sleeping hall for you. Ragnarök 7 will also be the first 3-day-festival in all of Ragnarök history. A lot of you arrived on Thursday this year, which made us deciding to let four or five bands play on Thursday, giving you the possibility to have a big party in the evening and leaving more time for the bands on Friday and Saturday.
First three bands
The next important point are the bands. We can already announce three of them: Arkona, Akrea und Agathodaimon. Arkona hail from Russia and weren't able to play their gig this year, because their singer Masha had been pregnant. Nevermind – they will be here in 2010 to give you a breathtaking show full of finest eastern European pagan metal. Akrea are on of the most promising you bands today. Though living not far away from the Ostbayernhalle, they we'll be much more than just local heroes. Watch out for their latest album “Lebenslinie” and look forward to their melodic death/black metal show with German lyrics. Agathodaimon from Mainz (Germany) are one of the inventors of the dark metal genre. Being part of the scene for almost 15 years, they showed with their new album “Phoenix” that they're still able to kick ass. In 2010 they'll have their first ever appearance at Ragnarök Festival.
