stabbingwestward ghost‘I Am Nothing’ proved that STABBING WESTWARD is back with a vengeance. Loudwire nailed it in their November 2021 review: “20 years later, they are back in the studio making the same intense electro-goth bangers they were doing two decades earlier. Now, the compressed crunchy guitar riffs, steady pounding beats, and signature wail of singer Christopher Hall highlight a tension that seems to fit perfectly this day and age.”

Their latest single ‘Ghost’ shows the band is wasting no time reclaiming their status as the driving force in Industrial Rock. Christopher Hall’s tale of abandonment and sorrow immediately grabs our attention. He is fragile and wounded, but also incredibly powerful when he lets loose and soars to the sky. “Will this isolation last forever” is just one line that probably resonates with all of us.

STABBING WESTWARD has not only managed to stay true to their original sound but Walter’s production has expanded it to fit the frantic new reality of the 21st century. Their reimagined version of ‘Why’ from their hit album ‘Wither Blister Burn & Peel’ is yet another proof of that. It conjures up a desolate world scrambling to realign itself with a new grim reality. Christopher Hall may well be the prophet of the end times - epic and hopeless all at once.

The single is rounded out by the brilliant ASSEMBLAGE 23 / Tom Shear ‘Ghost’ remix and Christopher Hall’s own reinterpretation of the title track. The band has not only kept their energy, drive, and intensity but also gained a depth of maturity that makes ‘Ghost’ the perfect kick-off for their highly anticipated fifth studio album ‘Chasing Ghosts’.
