Heilung - “Anda Fardha Tour” - Special Guest: The Hu
If you love Nordic Ritual Folk, you can hardly avoid HEILUNG. The international band with members from Denmark, Germany and Norway announces a creative hiatus - but not before saying goodbye to their fans with a very special tour: “Anda Fardha - The End of a Journey”. As part of this exclusive farewell tour, HEILUNG will play eight selected shows at extraordinary venues, including the Zeltfestival in Mannheim, the Tollwood Festival and the impressive Königstein Fortress.
The band will be supported by a stellar line-up of artists: THE HU, ALCEST, SOWULO and NINI will join the band at various stops on the tour. In Saarbrücken, fans can look forward to a joint performance with THE HU.
HEILUNG was formed in 2014 by Kai Uwe Faust and Christopher Juul. Shortly afterwards, Maria Franz joined the trio on vocals. HEILUNG’s music is conceived as a ritual sound event: it aims to bring to life “the sounds of times past” and to put the listener in a trance-like state - towards a meditative, “inwardly healing self”. Her compositions combine music and poetry, and include spoken texts and vocals in German, English, Latin, Old Norse and Icelandic.
The concerts resemble shamanistic ceremonies: drums, rattles, spears and detailed costumes - inspired by Eurasian circumpolar peoples and historically documented clothing from the Viking era - create an archaic atmosphere. Maria Franz’s ethereal vocals contrast with Kai Uwe Faust’s throaty, deep overtone singing, reminiscent of Tibetan-Mongolian traditions. Christopher Juul’s nagging, whispering vocals complete the ritualistic soundscape - unmistakable and unique.
One of the most eye-catching support acts on the tour is THE HU - a musical phenomenon from Mongolia. They have taken the metal genre by storm with their Hunnu Rock, which combines traditional Mongolian instruments such as the morin khuur (horse-headed fiddle), tsuur flute and tovshuur lute with Rock rhythms. Their songs Yuve Yuve Yu and Wolf Totem, released in 2018, went viral on YouTube - a global success that started in Ulaanbaatar and conquered the international stage from there.
