Johnny Marr
JOHNNY MARR began his career with THE SMITHS, embarking on an impressive journey as one of the most influential songwriters and guitarists in British independent music. Along his creative path, he played a central role in ELECTRONIC, MODEST MOUSE, and THE CRIBS, and collaborated with major artists such as THE PRETENDERS, TALKING HEADS, THE AVALANCHES, and musician and composer HANS ZIMMER. Together with Zimmer, he recorded the film score and soundtrack for the latest James Bond movie ‘No Time To Die’, including the Oscar-nominated title track created with BILLIE EILISH.
Since launching his solo career in 2013, Marr has released four UK Top Ten studio albums - ‘The Messenger’ (2013), ‘Playland’ (2014), ‘Call The Comet’ (2018), and ‘Fever Dreams Pts 1-4’ (2022) - as well as a career-spanning book, ‘Marr’s Guitars’ (published by Thames & Hudson). The full extent of this extraordinarily creative period is captured in his latest work, ‘Spirit Power: The Best Of Johnny Marr,’ a comprehensive, newly curated collection featuring songs from his first ten years as a solo artist, several standalone singles, and two brand-new releases, ‘Somewhere’ and ‘The Answer’. It is a work that reflects Marr’s irrepressible life force, his wide musical range, and above all, his deep love of melody.
