highfield2019Bands and beach: again, from August 16 - 18, international musical geniuses entered the Störmthaler lake close to Leipzig to party hard. Acts like 30 SECONDS TO MARS, JAN DELAY, STEVE AOKI, and many more from the Rock, Indie and Electronic music scene created unforgettable concert moments. With summer temperatures around, on every day of the festival, about 30,000 visitors entered the festival site in Großpösna.

On Friday, after the first party night at the beach was over, JAN DELAY & DISKO NO. 1 picked up the torch and provided the perfect ending of the first, official festival day. As of midnight, JAN EIßFELD and his great band entered the Green Stage and performed Funk, Soul and Rap. Already the previously performing CRO, FEINE SAHNE FISCHFILET and VON WEGEN LISBETH demanded a lot of the fans’ energy. However, thank god, there was the beach to recharge the batteries, and even the Pop punkers MONTREAL thought the same and before their performance regarding the release of their 7th album, they cooled down at and in front of the Beck’s Beach Stage.

On Saturday, all signs pointed to THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS: the band with lead singer Jared Leto began the second night with a thrilling show: their hymnal vision of Alternative, Electro Pop and Rock is made for the big stages - and for an audience like that at the Highfield. Because of their bombastically staged show that lasted one and a half hour, it was hard to let the US-American superstars go. Also the SDP duo that performed at the Blue Stage showed their flexibility in combining different genres to a thrilling live performance. ANNENMAYKANTEREIT and TRETTMANN, further darlings of the audience and as different as possible, gave goose bumps with strong lyrics, a thrilling show and expressive music. The audience experienced concentrated word art during the first ever Livelyrix Poetry Slam: four experienced slammers from Leipzig fought an impressive duel at the Beck’s Beach Stage, and with a very close decision, the audience selected the winner.

On Sunday, STEVE AOKI sent the audience into the night after a sweat-inducing and euphoric show. Steve, the exceptional DJ from Miami, brought along an opulent stage construction with huge LEDs and an impressive number of cakes, which he shared with the euphoric masses. Despite a short interruption caused by some weather issues, the good atmosphere of the last evening was also owed by the shows of FETTES BROT, THE OFFSPRING, and SAMY DELUXE. “We are more than satisfied with the course of the 22nd Highfield Festival”, said Stephan Thanscheidt, CEO of the organizer FKP Scorpio. “We are pleased about a weekend full of sun, but also about the peaceful and euphoric party our guests have celebrated. This and the quality of the diverse line-up shows, that the Highfield is furthermore a set festival at the top of Germany’s festival landscape.”
