In just under two months, the Weissenhäuser beach holiday park will be wrapped in a dark robe as PLAGE NOIRE lures around 4,000 fans of the black scene to the Baltic Sea. The festival’s rebirth - at the same location as in 2009 - was announced in August last year, and was greeted with huge enthusiasm. After only three weeks, all tickets, including overnight stays in the holiday park were sold out. The majority of the music program has been confirmed for several weeks. Organizer FKP Scorpio has just completed the PLAGE NOIRE 2018 line-up with seven more amazing names.

One of Westphalia’s most intimate festival, the Vainstream Rockfest, will celebrate its 13th year at the Münster Hawerkamp this year, a site popular with both fans and bands. This summer it will offer rock fans the best of Punk, Hardcore and Metal on three open air stages plus one indoor stage. The first wave of band announcements crashed ashore with such monster names as BEATSTEAKS, ENTER SHIKARI, ASKING ALEXANDRIA and STICK TO YOUR GUNS. The next 9-carat golden nuggets to land were NECK DEEP, TOUCHÉ AMORÉ, BURY TOMORROW, LIONHEART, BLESSTHEFALL and STRAY FROM THE PATH - bands clearly among the hottest rock acts of these times.

US death metal legends CANNIBAL CORPSE will hit Ireland in March 2018 in support of their new ‘Red Before Black’ album which was released in November. The name CANNIBAL CORPSE evokes many associations, but only one word hits the nail on the head for its description: unstoppable. The Death Metal veterans were now releasing their monstrous 14th studio album ‘Red before Black’. By doing this, they are by no means re-acquainted with the old, but raise the bar once more and clearly make it clear who sets the standards when it comes to compelling music that is brutal and complex at the same time. In addition, the band is constantly pushing to new extremes, to make sure that their latest songs stand out from their previous catalogue.

Hard to believe, DARK TRANQUILLITY, one of the originators of the “Gothenburg Sound” (aka The New Wave of Swedish Death Metal), are 27 years old this year. Over the course of 11 full-lengths, two of which, 1999’s grand vision ‘Projector’ and 2007’s furious fan-favourite ‘Fiction’, were nominated for Swedish Grammy Awards and countless worldwide tours, the Swedes have persevered through thick and thin.
