Progressive metallers Hypnotheticall have uploaded a short video teaser for their second full-length album "A Farewell To Gravity". The video can be viewed online at YouTube. Title is program: with his new solo album 'Transition", out 18th January 2013, TOTO guitarist Steve Lukather documents his change as privat person an musician during the last years. “‘Transition’ is a turning point for the album and a turning point for me,” Steve Lukather explains. “As we were writing the songs, I was thinking about everything I’ve seen — all the people I’ve lost in my life, the great and the difficult experiences I’ve had, and how ultimately it was time to get it together and embrace things for what they are, because we’ve only got one life to live and we’ve got to make the most of it.” Despite the album’s harmonic depth and sonic surprises, Lukather explains that he kept his guitar sound organic. “These days I like it simple and direct,” he says. “I plugged my new Music Man L-3 signature model guitar straight into a Bogner amp and miked it with an SM-57. Any effects were added at the mixing desk. I used a Kemper Profiling Amp for some of the weird sounds, and that was it. Live these days it’s just my guitar and amp and a couple stomp boxes — and I just go for it.”

After 4 very successful years, FortaRock festival has taken it up a notch. This year’s XL edition takes place at the Goffertpark in Nijmegen. This bigger location offers the opportunity for an extra stage, enabling about 20 band to play on 3 stages on the 1st of June. The line-up of the past editions of this “heaviest day in the park” festival has already been impressive with names like MOONSPELL (2009), FEAR FACTORY (2010), ARCH ENEMY (2011), SLAYER (2012) and LAMB OF GOD (2012). Each year, the festival presents a broad range of metal from classic doom metal to black metal and metalcore. With the addition of HEAVEN SHALL BURN and AUDREY HORNE the line up for FortaRock XL is now complete (22nd of March).

This year’s 18th edition of Graspop Metal Meeting takes place from 28-30 June in Dessel, Belgium. Over the years an impressive list of over 400 bands have played at this famous metal festival. The event was not originally a heavy metal festival; rather, it was conceived as a local family festival. In 1995, the headliners billed were JOE COCKER and SIMPLE MINDS. Unfortunately, the number of visitors dropped dramatically and Founder Peter Van Geel realized that mainstream rock music held insufficient appeal to festival visitors.
