How do you describe a weekend that you really have to experience? Much new, but nothing forgotten. Even a festival is constantly changing. With the new Club Stage and a large rearranged concert and camping site, we were very excited this year to see how you would like the change. And what shall we say? The atmosphere on the campsite and in front of the new stage spoke volumes! Aside from the even warmer “Hello” and “Long time no see!” the M’era Luna 2022 was a seamless connection to the times before the pandemic: you haven’t forgotten anything when it comes to partying!

The Wacken Open Air 2023 sold out in a record time of just five hours with 80,000 tickets. Compared to the previous year, the advance sale for 2023 started this time on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. In five hours, the set mark of 80,000 tickets was already reached and the organizer reports the 32nd Wacken Open Air, which will take place from August 2, 2023 to August 5, 2023 for the first time over 4 days, as sold out.

“A sold-out show is never a matter of course,” says organizer Thomas Jensen, “and support from the community is extremely important, especially in these times. We're still dusting off this year's Open Air and, thanks to the trust of our fans, we can now continue to concentrate fully on the program in 2023 under the motto “Vikings”, which will have one or the other highlight in the luggage in addition to the great IRON MAIDEN!”

Around 25,000 music fans once again made Hildesheim the centre of the international black scene, and the euphoria about seeing each other again after two editions that had been cancelled due to the corona virus was palpable in front of, on and behind the stages. Led by acts such as ASP FT. THE LITTLE BIG MEN, EISBRECHER and THE SISTERS OF MERCY, music greats from home and abroad provided intense concert moments. Wacken Open Air 2022 ends successfully - first bands confirmed for 2023! IRON MAIDEN will be headlining next year - pre-sales start on Sunday evening! The sold out 31st Wacken Open Air came to an end this Saturday evening. 83,400 fans celebrated gigantic shows by JUDAS PRIEST, SLIPKNOT and POWERWOLF at the world’s largest metal festival. A total of over 200 bands played on nine stages, the Swedes AMON AMARTH even gave an unannounced secret concert directly under the huge Wacken skull between the main stages.

The joy of finally being able to experience live music again and a diverse open air with like-minded people from all over the world could be clearly felt everywhere. The organizers Holger Hübner and Thomas Jensen also comment: “Wacken Open Air is back - finally! We missed the festival as much as the fans. Now we are already looking forward to the next edition in 2023, which will offer four days of live concerts for the first time. Tickets go on sale as early as Sunday evening.”
