Antimatter - “Black Market Enlightenment” Tour 2018
ANTIMATTER celebrate with this tour the release of their 7th studio album, ‘Black Market Enlightenment’, which, according to mastermind Mick Moss, is the most progressive ANTIMATTER album since the band was founded 20 years ago. ANTIMATTER stands for thoughtful, melancholic music, but above all for Mick Moss’ warm and multi-faceted voice, which gives the listener goose bumps.
The creation of ANTIMATTER in 1997 is more a coincidence than a planned step. Guitarist and singer Mick Moss has collected some musical ideas at that time, all of which are very dark, melodic, but also minimalist. The same applies to former ANATHEMA bassist Duncan Patterson. So they decide to start the band ANTIMATTER together. The debut, ‘Savior’ should be released in 2001, but the label was not able to distribute as planned. Barely the second album, ‘Lights Out’, is released 2003 with a new label, ANTIMATTER are on tour in Europe, the States and India. In the same year they released a lot of demos and original versions of known songs under the title ‘Unreleased 1998-2003’ for their dedicated fans.
In 2004, Duncan leaves the band to fully concentrate on his project ION. ‘Planetary Confinement’ is the last album of the two, they have recorded largely separately from each other. From now on, the vocals come from Mick’s lungs alone. The same musicians who were already heard on his songs on ‘Planetary Confinement’ also play ‘Leaving Eden’: in addition to violinist Rachel Brewster, the bassist Ste Hughes and drummer Chris Phillips. As a special guest is once again Danny Cavanagh here. At the end of 2008, Moss sets up a tour under the banner “An Evening with ANTIMATTER, ANATHEMA and ION Music”. Moss and Duncan actually go on tour together again. At the same time, Moss is working on the fifth studio album as well as on the double CD ‘Alternative Matter’ which will provide an overview of the past ten years.
Previously, the live recording ‘Live @ An Club’, which was recorded on the tour with Duncan, was released via Moss’ own label Music In Stone. ‘Alternative Matter’ was not released until the end of 2010, but then as a limited 4-CD box with a thick booklet. The songs are remixes, demo or acoustic versions. Really new material will not be available until 2012 with ‘Fear Of A Unique Identity’. The last album was out with ‘Leaving Eden’ in 2017. Now, a new album is in the starting blocks and the fans are looking forward to ‘Black Market Enlightenment’ and to a tour with new songs.
