Now into its third year (not including the two missing Covid years), this festival combines the appeal of a great Gothic / Metal / Industrial festival line-up with a Mediterranean holiday destination. Genius!
Malta has a fantastic history with the old town charm of Valetta, the history of Mdina and the gothic appeal of an island monumental cemetery. All this and more - including great climate and beaches! The festival will provide shuttle services and private transport and festival food will cater for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free dietary requirements. There will be a gothic market and even an art exhibition. This festival, on the idyllic beautiful island of Malta offers what seems to be Europe’s perfect all round music experience!
Day one is headlined by MOONSPELL, needing no introduction this Gothic Metal band from Portugal have produced quality sounds for the last three decades. Continuing the Mediterranean theme, ASH CODE is an Italian dark wave band with a sound that appeals to fans of several genres - Dark Wave, Synth Pop, EBM and Post Punk all spring to mind. ASH CODE will provide a high point for me personally. NOSFERATU were originally formed in 1988, an English band that has since evolved and gone through many changes - always a treat to see live. Further down the bill for day one there are such pleasures as PILGRIMAGE, PSIDERALICA, VLAD IN TEARS and DIE KUR.
Day two is an epic perfect festival day if you have similar music taste to me. COVENANT, AGONOIZE, SOLAR FAKE and LEAETHER STRIP are headliners - that’s some exciting line-up! Seems almost silly introducing such popular bands, but for the sake of a complete overview; first we begin with COVENANT - a dark electronic mixture of EBM and Synth Pop, a long-standing staple of the scene since 1988. AGONOIZE have provided us with pounding beats with Aggrotech perfection - a powerhouse of a band and a stage show not to be missed. Just don’t forget your umbrella if you don’t want to be sprayed with blood! The brilliant Synth Pop SOLAR FAKE just get better and better every time I see them - simply top of their game, don’t miss these chaps play! Then, of course is the legendry LEAETHER STRIP, a true pioneer of the EBM scene. I’m completely flabbergasted these four bands are to be enjoyed in one day, but wait there is more! The day also offers ALIAN VAMPIRES, THE ARCH, PRETTY ADDICTED, IRRLICHT and CYBERIA. What a day! I’m so looking forward to this festival!
Final day, day number three then leads us to further quality bands with the genuinely awesome COMBICHRIST headlining the day - providing us with an old school electronic set. Now that’s going to be a perfect end to a festival after three days! Remember to keep some energy in reserve! NACHTMAHR provide us with their usual slice of Techno Body Music, and I’m sure the stage antics will be as entertaining as usual! SULPHER are a firm favourite of mine – a slab of power-house high energy industrial rock! If that isn’t enough, we have further delights such as SYSTEM NOIRE, EGGVN, PSYCHOLLIES, BLUT and ERIC 13.
