In the legendary film by Ukrainian director and actor Leonid Bykov ‘Only Old Men Are Going to Battle’, the main character, Captain Tytarenko, nicknamed “Maestro”, utters an equally legendary phrase: “Who said you have to quit singing in war?” For BOOMBOX family, these words are a guide to action.
The full-scale war launched on February 24, 2022, by the Russian invaders made all Ukrainians forget for a long time “who we are and where we come from”. Territorial defence, police service, volunteering - at some moments there was simply no time for music. The very thought of listening to something, not to mention playing, seemed to be a chore. But then... You carefully turn on your favourite song. Then another one. And another. And it helps.
If you are a fan with experience or have recently discovered the band, having heard ‘Oy u luzi chervona kalyna’ (‘Oh, there is a red viburnum in the meadow’) performed by Andriy Khlyvnyuk, come to the German concerts of the band. In November BOOMBOX will play on the 17th in Berlin, on the 18th in Cologne, on the 21st in Hamburg, on the 22nd in Hanover, on the 24th in Frankfurt, on the 25th in Stuttgart, and on the 27th in Nuremberg.
