French Black Metal four-piece LORD SHADES, consisting of Alex (bass / vocals), Fabien (guitar / vocals), Cyril (guitar) and Nico (drums / vocals), presented the self-released album ‘The Rise of Meldral-Nok’ in August 2011. The album, consisting of seven tracks, first seems quite short, but most of the tracks are really long, sometimes just too long to be really interesting during the full length. The songs are full of ideas, but with that all, they are often overload. Interesting are the orchestral parts woven into the melodic Death Metal. Also, they are experimenting with strings and female vocal parts.
Conclusion: Overall, LORD SHADES are not bad, but the album lacks real highlights.
