WOLAND is a Finnish (Post) Black Metal band, founded in 2010. On ‘Hyperion’, the band’s debut, they introduce their very own interpretation of Black Metal and do not only add a lot of groove, but also unusual elements like keyboards and acoustic/ flamenco guitars. Tracks like ‘Art Of Ascension’ or ‘Extacy and Rapture’ form intense mixtures of groove, melody and harshness. Furthermore, the song structures include a fair amount of variety and technical skill, which makes ‘Hyperion’ an album that also offers new elements to be discovered after several spins.
Conclusion: Highly interesting modern Black Metal debut.
