Review Flash

The first things that come to mind when hearing about Serbia are not necessarily bad-ass technical Thrash but rather Cevapcici, Pita, Baklava or the largest and longest gorge in Europe. OK there where and still are conflicts with Kosovo but this ain’t about politics but rather about a band that is very likely to have their breakthrough this year. Most media outlets are completely beside themselves about ‘Novo oružje protiv bola’ that is loosely translated as “a new weapon against pain”. The four-piece from Belgrade, Serbia is a part of the metal scene since 2016 and already has three rad full-length records in their arsenal. The first times they still worked with English lyrics but decided for ‘Novo oružje protiv bola’ to forego their former approach and go with their native tongue this time around.

Me not understanding what the fuck the band is singing about gladly does not make a difference in this case as it is crystal-clear that the music speaks for itself, which means: this record is a well-balanced affair when it comes to melodies, heaviness and pure technical bad-assery. These guys really are serious when they say they play progressive Thrash Metal. Intertwined structures, chances of pace and heaviness as well as an understanding for dramatic structures and tension building are only a few tools these people use so well to forge their songs. This marks the first time that one of my favourites does not have any lyrics, ‘Ogledalo’ which means mirror is an instrumental that kicks all kinds of ass.

Conclusion: Just check this out if you like your ass kicked in a technical kinda way.
