Album Review

Behind the inspired name DARK DRIVE CLINIC and the debut full-length effort ‘Noise In My Head’, talented people like John Fryer (member of THIS MORTAL COIL, THE HOPE BLOSTER and rock producer with collaborations such as DEPECHE MODE, NINE INCH NAILS, CRADLE OF FILTH, HIM) & vocalist Rebecca Coseboom (STRIPMALL ARCHITECTURE, HALOU) hide. The basic ingredients of the album are the catchy pop refrains mixed with industrial beats & metal riffs along with a solid production by the experienced hands of Fryer. Or just imagine KMFDM sharing the studio with ‘Cuckoo’ era CURVE.

Regarding standout tunes, ‘Love’s Lost Cross’ has to be one of them, since it is the most mellow moment in the whole album with a haunting sax in the middle of the track, the irresistibly aggressive ‘Still Contagious’, the GARBAGE-like ‘Angel Of Malcontent’ with the addictive break-core outburst and the almost autistic rhythm section of the electro-poppy ‘Bite My Tongue’. On the other hand, no originality or any innovation should be expected, since DDC only visit familiar grounds. But who cares about this, since they have released one the best genre releases of the last few months.
