Album Review

ARTIFACT is a band from the city of Stavanger on the west coast of Norway, formed in late 2002. After a rough start and a long series of line-up changes, including five different vocalists and one drummer, the band settled on their current line-up in late 2004, when vocalist Tor Arne Fassotte joined the band. The band held their debut concert in the city of Sandnes in May 2005, supporting Trail of Tears, and released a demo called ‘Abandoned E.P.’ in September the same year. Now will be released their first full album at Spiralchords.

The debut album of ARTIFACT is a powerful mixture of gothic, rock and metal, perfected by the distinctive dark voice of the singer Tor Arne Vassotte. The album consists of eleven songs and included hard and rock songs like ‘The only salvation’ or ‘Dead Eyes’ as well as calmer songs like ‘Senseless’, ‘One more shot’ or ‘Scapegoated & Demonized’. In parts, the songs sounded like a mix of MINISTRY and TYPE O NEGATIVE. The whole playing time is 48:55.
