Album Review
Barcelona-based EXTINCTION FRONT was founded in 2005 and self-released their debut album ‘Motherview’ (currently downloadable for free via the website of the band) in 2008. Their new album ‘Destruction Show’ presents eight tracks and two remixes by SOMAN and IMPERATIVE REACTION.
‘Destruction Show’ walks in the footsteps GRENDEL, COMBICHRIST and other aggressive harsh EBM acts. There's only one gear and that's "full on!". With robotic voices, sounds of sirens, military references and technoid sounds, EXTINCTION FRONT is going over the 2000's harsh EBM trends. It's not badly done, but the tracks lack originality and while the album is reasonably well produced, the sounds do not express any creativity either. The only exception from the tried-and-done formula are the vocals on '3,2,1, Boom!' and 'Integrity of Behaviour' which do not sport the quintessential heavily distorted vocals. As far as bonus material goes, the video for 'Shut the fuck up' (also streamable on the band's website) is of decent quality, but then again, it also does not really offer anything new either.
If you just want yet another album to stomp to, then 'Destruction Show' is for you. If you're looking for originality and creativity, keep looking.
