Men Without Hats - “European Tour 2025” - Support: EGOamp
One of the most underrated bands of the 80s is MEN WITHOUT HATS. Even though the Canadian synth band didn’t have many well-known songs, they have a huge fan base. With ‘The Safety Dance’, they topped the charts for weeks in 1982 and filled dance floors in clubs. In 2025, MEN WITHOUT HATS went on tour again and made a stop at the small Bochum club Die Trompete in early September. EGO AMP warmed up the crowd with their synth sounds, evoking feelings of the 80s.
EGOamp
At first glance, the two musicians from EGOAMP looked a little strange in their black suits and top hats. But as soon as the first notes rang out, the audience was clearly thrilled by the synth sound. Each song electrified the audience until the end, when they played the old Pop classic ‘The Cabinet’. Without transition, the song segued directly into the EURYTHMICS classic ‘Sweet Dreams’. With that, the gentlemen took their leave of the stage to make way for the main act. https://egoamp.jimdofree.com/die-band/ / https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063007521167

Men Without Hats
Looking at the small stage, one wondered how an entire band would fit on it. MEN WITHOUT HATS are certainly used to bigger stages than Die Trompete. But this intimacy and closeness to the fans is precisely the charm of small clubs. Singer Ivan Doroschuk took to the stage and the first notes of the number one hit ‘The Safety Dance’ rang out. Even though it was unusual for bands to play their most famous song first, the fans were thrilled and celebrated the hit.

Even though the atmosphere was very lively, after the second song Ivan asked the audience members who were filming with their mobile phones to move to the back so that the celebrating fans could see more. The second big hit, ‘Pop Goes the World’, came halfway through the concert. In addition to several cover versions, such as those by ABBA and the Rolling Stones, MEN WITHOUT HATS also played the extended Club Mix of ‘The Safety Dance’. But then came the first farewell, which was only brief. They played ‘S.O.S.’ by ABBA and ‘No Friends of Mine’.

After another break, the band came back on stage for the very last song, ‘If the World Should End Today’. If you’ve never seen MEN WITHOUT HATS before, you should definitely catch them as soon as possible. https://www.safetydance.com / https://menwithouthatstour.com / https://www.facebook.com/menwithouthats
