Well, look what the cat dragged in: Another female fronted metal band - means a girl with long hair and a nice rack [sic!!!], a tender, operatic high female voice and a bunch of longhaired guys that want to be quite more than pure decoration… In this case, SHEAR is not that typical kind of band, far from it! In contrast to all those singers that sound quite similar within this genre. Alexa Leroux has a distinctive and unusual voice that sets apart from all the other voices and reminds me of a cross between DORO and Marta Jandová of DIE HAPPY. And even the guys are master of their trade - from the very beginning, ‘Breaking the Stillness’ is an atmospheric and powerful release. Pressing and powerful guitars and a wise use of synthesizers, catchy hook-lines and Alexa’s powerful voice turn the project into a well-rounded affair. Although a few songs could be a little bit more sophisticated, SHEAR´s debut is a big bang. I´m pretty sure, that those guys will make a name for themselves! Absolute recommendation to buy!
