Single Review
The most recent TRASHMONKEYS album is in stores for just two months and now it’s already time for the second single and the choice fell on the track ‘Leaving Home’.
The oscillating melody aims straight for the eardrums to stay and when the rhythm comes in one gets captured in by its driving energy and gets additionally pushed on by guitars and lightly distorted vocals. With ‘I.O.U’ there’s yet another album track on the single which owns the same driving power that is present in all of the album tracks. Only the guitars and vocals are coming off more aggressive with this track due to their heavier distortion. ‘Northern Lights’ gives us dynamic drums and otherwise delivers the typical raw, old-school rock sound you have come to know from the five-piece. If you already own the album already the first two tracks are completely unnecessary for you and whether you’re willing to pay the price for just on new track or not is up to you but the track is cool no doubt about that. People who’ve just discovered the TRASHMONKEYS are probably the better audience for this record.
