Album Review

German metal thrashers PARADOX have unleashed their fifth album to date simply called ‘Riot Squad’. What does this title grant its fellow listeners? A riot of fantasy or a riot of misfortune? Well, ‘Riot Squad’ consists of 10-tracks each one being as the titles says "riot"-ful, filled with nothing but aggressive and intensity written all over the 10-tracks exposed. ‘Nothingness’, ‘Dream Hero’ and ‘Planet Terror’ are just the pick of the litter when it comes down to breaking this album apart and these selected make the band stand out the most when it comes to instrumentals and vocals, the instruments showcases their own classic styles while the vocals stand off to the side and unleashes their own capabilities.

The rough grinding attitude of ‘Nothingness’ displays PARADOX’ guitar skills at the most intense flare, unleashing this overlapping tone of aggression, having this non-stop obsessing with break-downs and a repeating texture of solos and mix-matching everything else in between. Regarding the other two, ‘Dream Hero’ goes down the line of a more mellow effect and ‘Planet Terror’ has that intense aggressive side to it wrapping up this so-called “Riot” to a closing point of the one and only ‘Riot Squad’.
