SHADOW MINDS come from the northernmost part of Germany. After a debut album 'Simply Different' (2005) and single 'Nemesis' (2006), they broke into the consciousness of wider audience with their second album 'Extend the Line' (2008). Two years later, they are back to present a 14-track album 'The Arc of Truth'.
SHADOW MINDS integrate Synth Pop with EBM - a very appealing recipe previously used e.g. by ABSURD MINDS. At their best, SHADOW MINDS is able to combine poignant harmonies a la DEPECHE MODE with VNV NATION-like catchy melodies and airy soundscapes. Alas, the album does not quite stand up to its influential paragons as a whole: The listener is left with the feeling that the special something which would make the album unforgettable is missing. That is not to say that the album could not be a pleasurable listening experience for the friends of Synth Pop and those EBM-minded people who are getting tired with all that aggressive stomping that has been dominating the charts lately.
