Album Review
After about five years of diligent work, American electronic duo REVOLUTION STATE releases the brand-new album entitled ‘Viridian Resonance’. The whole creation produces an impression of something promising, especially judging by the first piece, which starts with some sort of an opening speech. Although the music component is quite monotonous, it doesn’t irritate at all yet may seem a bit too long. The next song also starts with a preamble like most of the compositions, this time touching upon social problems. The melody itself contrasts with the lyrics being too peaceful, calm. Unfortunately the tracks don’t please with their diversity. Despite the appropriate sonic changes from one song to another, in general all the pieces are still made according to the same scheme. The male and female vocals don’t show too much variety as well.
The album features 13 tracks but it’s hard to mark out any of them yet a couple of tracks attracted my attention. First of all it’s ‘Yggdrassil’ mostly because of the title that would be more suitable for pagan or folk metal songs. As for the other composition, which is ‘No Kami’, it’s just good and interesting, diluting the pallidness of the album with some power. Thus REVOLUTION STATE recorded an ambiguous work which can’t be described as simply good or bad. It’s slow, leisured and at the same time thought-provoking. Even if the lack of diversity may disappoint some listeners, the album will be appreciated by many fans of the genre.
