Now, at the dawn of its 7th recurrence, it is more than validly to claim that Berlin’s Dark Spring Festival has been established by now as a Can’t-Miss-date for all lovers of sinister guitar sounds, be it Gothic Rock, Post Punk, Dark Wave or Shoegaze – a status well deserved over the years. What started as a one-time, offhanded idea by Berlin’s home-grown Dark Wave outfit GOLDEN APES, became a highly regarded annual attraction for people from all over Europe, appreciating the festival’s concept of finding and picking its requested artists beyond the mainstream’s usual suspects for offering a musical mixture of appropriate luminaries and interesting new names and projects alike.

Voice magician JOHANNES STECK and the kings of minstrels, CORVUS CORAX, venture to go ahead to a new dimension with ‘Die Zwerge’ (transl. ‘The Dwarves’). Combining a reading with a music concert and a show they present the iconic fantasy epos written by Markus Heitz as a tight and atmospheric live performance. CORVUS CORAX is an influential and internationally successful band formed in 1989 and is considered the very first new dark age band in Germany. They began as a duo and are now eight musicians reconstructing and developing further tunes as well as instruments from the 14th century. Their minstrel melodies and medieval soundscapes frame JOHANNES STECK's narrative voice and take the audience into the land of legends and myths. The well-known TV actor and audiobook narrator JOHANNES STECK has initiated this project which is directed by ALEXANDER MAY.

Very sad news on this Monday morning. As the artist’s Facebook site reports, the singer is dead: “January 10 2016 - David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.” R.i.P. great hero!

LES TAMBOURS DU BRONX are an industrial percussion band that has been around since 1987. Their first performance was meant to be a single event and now it has been 28 years that the exception is replayed every night. “This 16-head industrial monster,” as one can read on their website “has been spreading its rage and its sound over every continent. This herd of individualities has irrigated every country with its sweat, this horde with its animal-like look has raged on every stage.” For example, they have supported Jimmy Page and Robert Plant (LED ZEPPELIN) at the Festival of Roskilde in 1995 and KORN at the Sziget festival in 2005 and joined SEPULTURA for a common show at the Rock in Rio festival.
