CORDE OBLIQUE’s eight studio album ‘Cries and Whispers’ is a double album inspired by homonymous Bargman’s movie ‘Cries and Whispers’; the album is split in two sides: Volume 1 ‘Cries’ (Post Metal / Folkgaze) and Volume 2 ‘Whispers’ (Ethereal / Post Folk). The album is going to be released on February 14 2025, for the 20th anniversary of the band (2005-2025) and includes 10 unreleased tracks composed by mastermind Riccardo Prencipe plus a cover from the band ALCEST (‘Souvenirs d’un autre monde’) and one solo guitar song (Satie’s ‘Gnossienne’ n. 1). ‘Endless Night’ is the mind-blowing second solo single from EMPATHY TEST singer / songwriter Isaac Howlett, following the huge success of his debut, ‘House of Cards’, which reached #1 on the German Alternative Chart (DAC), #2 on the Bandcamp Synthpop Chart, and #5 on the Bandcamp Synthwave chart. A world away from its upbeat predecessor, ‘Endless Night’ utilises a grand piano, sparse percussion and lush strings, slowing the tempo and ramping the “feels” up to eleven. Isaac’s ever-poignant lyrics, which deal with the subject of depression (the “endless night” of the title) in a poetic and personal way, are lifted by a magical soundscape that builds to an epic crescendo under the deft hand of returning producer Walter Kazmier (NYXX, Danny Blu). An orchestral waltz in 3/4 time, this second taste of Isaac Howlett’s forthcoming solo album, ‘A Year Without Light’, tentatively slated for release in the fall / autumn of 2025, demonstrates both a growing musical maturity and a desire on Isaac’s part to move beyond the stylistic constrictions of EMPATHY TEST and the Synth Pop scene in general.- Details
