Phillip Boa & the Voodoo Club
It’s strange to say that German sound arts, in most cases, only seem to appeal to musically critical foreign-countries if it walks stray from the paths of overly exercised formulaic and predictable music. One of these artists, who’s never that much into following any of the current trends, but rather realizing his own vision of alternative German Indie Rock/Pop, is the singer and songwriter PHILIP BOA who has, through the years, always amazed with his refreshingly different approach to this kind of music, and without him it’s safe to assume the genre would have a much lower standing in the eyes of many, many people - interior or abroad.

Apoptygma Berzerk
APOPTYGMA BERZERK is no band to pigeonhole easily into one specific musical drawer. The mingle electronic as well as organic elements in their sound and with that are sure to please fans of both genres alike, even though their sound has turned towards the rather Indie Rock oriented sounds of their energetic live performances, since the last album ‘You and me against the World’, and also with their new album they make no move to change that fact and why would they? They have more success than ever before.

Slut, Lily Electric
4 years after their last musical proof of life ‘All We Need Is Silence’, the German band came back from the dead with ‘Still No.1’ an album most likely no one would have expected of the minimalist and reduced arrangements of its 2004 predecessor. But this album makes unmistakably clear that the time of reduction is over, once and for all. It seems like the band members found a new playground to draw inspirations from. They employed chorals, accordions, musical saws, piano, and the mandatory towering, apocalyptic guitar walls. The result is a scruffy, stubborn, and surreal mighty piece of music hard to describe properly. Maybe it’s best to see and feel it on one of their live shows. One chance you’ll have is at Münster’s Sputnikhalle where they’ll crash on 6th February.

P:lot
The centre of P:LOT’s work is the artistic idea and they’re focussing on getting out the maximum of what they’re aiming for: Maximum lust, maximum guilt, maximum chance, or ‘Mein Name ist’. To get their message out to the public properly they chose music as the suitable means of transportation, specifically for the genre ‘Alternative Pop’. With it the band is spreading on ‘Mein Name ist’ their vision of maximum subversive mind-expansion in 12 chapters. With it, the trio created music, which is, despite serious lyrics and complex harmonies, sprays a basic optimism you hardly find with other artists.
